How is the cost advantage of an electric car calculated?
The running costs of an electric vehicle depend heavily on individual charging behavior. Charging at home using a standard outlet or wallbox is usually much cheaper than using public AC chargers or DC fast charging stations (high-power chargers). Owners of a private solar panel system can charge for a fraction of the usual price. This calculator calculates a weighted average price per kWh based on your customized charging mix.
For a fair comparison with a gasoline or diesel car, the annual mileage and energy consumption are evaluated. In addition to fuel savings, EV drivers benefit from tax exemptions (10 years vehicle tax exemption for registrations until end of 2035) as well as reduced maintenance and repair costs, as electric motors contain fewer moving parts subject to wear.
